PFHW Annual Moth Plant Pod Competition is back for 2026! We have changed things up a bit this year and now have a points based system; an individual pod will be worth 5 points while a seedling is worth 1 point, and keep your eyes peeled as there will be opportunities throughout the competition to gain bonus points! We have also changed the ‘Open’ category to a ‘Community’ category! This is where people from all over Howick can work together in teams of up to 10 (no more than four adults) even if they go to different schools. Help us make a different for te taiao and stop the spread of this pest plant!
Moth plant is spreading quickly, killing our native plants. Help your local community get on top of controlling this pest plant and win some prize money for your efforts!
Two categories – preschool and open (includes primary, intermediate, and secondary)
If you are a student in the Howick ward, grab some friends and gather as many moth plant pods as you can – the team or individual with the most pods and small vines pulled out by the roots wins!
