Pestival: Building a Pest-Free Future Together!

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made the Pestival at Bucklands Beach Intermediate School a resounding success!

First and foremost, a big thank you to our incredible host school for their warm hospitality and for providing us with the perfect venue to gather and celebrate our shared commitment to a pest-free community.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to all the parents, visitors, and community members who joined us at the event. Your presence and support truly made a difference!

Special thanks go to Mr Damian Light, the chairperson of the Howick Local Board, for gracing us with his presence and for his continued support of our initiatives. Your encouragement and guidance are invaluable to us.

The event was expertly hosted by Cate from Sustainable Schools, who ensured a smooth and engaging program throughout the evening. Cate is dedicated and passionate about promoting sustainability in our schools and communities!

Ethan, our enthusiastic team member, presented the award-winning Cadetship Programme Silver Level certificate to the outstanding students from BBI, recognizing their exceptional commitment to our cause. Well done, BBI students!

During the event, Nigel took the opportunity to summarise the remarkable achievements of Howick schools in the waste minimisation projects and the carbon footprint measuring project. These efforts highlight the importance of addressing waste and climate change, both of which have significant negative impacts on our ecosystem and biodiversity.

John introduced the valuable services of the Trap Library East Auckland, providing our community with access to essential trapping resources and support. John and the team are dedicated to making trapping more accessible and effective!

Derryn, along with other members of the PFHW team, was on hand to answer questions from local residents about backyard trapping and provide expert advice. We are thrilled to welcome 12 new registrations to our project, as more individuals and families join us in creating a pest-free environment. Together, we are making a difference!

Once again, thank you to everyone who participated in the Pestival June 2023. Your enthusiasm and support inspire us to continue our mission of protecting our precious ecosystem and biodiversity. Let’s keep up the great work!
